Yoga classes, retreats and yoga therapy in Greystones, Co Wicklow
Classes take place both online and in the studio, while individual therapy sessions or yoga tuition are always in person. Ann-Marie offers individual yoga therapy, regular one-day retreats and weekly yoga classes
Yoga for the individual
The process of moving along towards a state of yoga happens in stages. This is why yoga was traditionally taught to individuals according to their unique set of circumstances. Everyone’s physical capabilities, energy levels, age, life circumstances and what they would like to achieve from their yoga practice is different. The process begins from where you find yourself. Yoga can also be used therapeutically alongside conventional treatment, whatever your level of health, to help you manage a broad range of chronic and challenging health conditions, at any level.
Yoga as therapy is a gradual process. Some of the many conditions which can be assisted by yoga therapy are chronic back pain, cardiovascular problems, respiratory difficulties like asthma, anxiety, insomnia, burnout, chronic fatigue and mild to moderate depression. Individual practices can also be designed for those already practicing yoga who wish to deepen their exploration of yoga tools underpinned by the philosophy to provide continued inspiration to keep practicing.
To see if individual yoga tuition designed for your unique circumstances will help you can email me at annmarie@gyt.ie for a complementary half hour consultation.
Practices begin at fifteen minutes per day, to be done a minimum of five days per week to be effective.
Weekly Yoga Class
The Yoga Process classes are suitable for everyone, at any level of experience. They are taught according to the tradition of TKV Desikachar and his father Krishnamacharya this approach is holistic and is informed by the Yoga Sutras. Care is taken to preserve the spirit of these teachings, where the breath is of particular importance and development of the class series is often a gradual process.
The next series of five classes will begin on Thursday evening November 7th until December 5th. They will take place in St Patricks church hall in Greystones from 7.30pm til 8.45pm.
Yoga Nidra
iRest yoga nidra is a simple, profound, evidence-based ancient yoga practice. Often, when we feel stressed we can be encouraged to let go, but of what? The pancha Maya model helps us to become aware of the many dimensions of our being, the body, breath, feelings and emotions, cognitions, and feelings of joy, so we can become more familiar with them and experience the realisation of the essence of self which is the ground of being from which these dimensions occur.
Yoga Retreat
The next half day yoga retreat based on breath centric yoga exercises, breath exploration and short meditations will be on Saturday October 19th from 10am to 1pm in Kilcoole community centre, wicklow.
I offer regular, one-day or half-day retreats.A combination of gentle breath-centric asana and iRest yoga nidra aims to leave you refreshed and restored in body and mind.
No matter how well we look after ourselves in terms of diet, exercise, sleep, and other lifestyle factors, tension can and often does still build up in the body, mind and breath. These knots of tension can be eased by a combination of gentle restorative yoga and iRest yoga nidra integrated meditation. Yoga is often a gradual process, both a path and a destination. Participants are asked to bring a yoga mat and a warm blanket or duvet.
